The Top 5 Window Treatment Trends For 2020

Window Treatments

With 2020 in full swing, it’s time to look at the window treatment trends for 2020 we will be craving over the upcoming decade. I don’t know about you, but I sense exciting changes to come in the way we furnish our homes.

Of course, my focus is always window treatments and the trends and updates to them. Sure, window treatment trends may not be as interesting as some other aspects of decorating or go through the same radical transformations; but, window treatments are critical to a comfortable, functional home, and their style makes a big impact on its overall aesthetic.

If your window treatments are worn, outdated or mismatched with your current décor, take a look at these window treatment trends for 2020. You might find a new style that speaks to you.

And as always, I’ll bring samples of any or all of these trends to your home so you can be certain they suit your space. Happy decorating!

window treatment trends for 2020 roman shades made in the shade blinds north dfw denton texas

#1 Natural fibers
Performance fabrics have their place, but I can’t give up natural fibers like beautiful linen, pure cotton and sumptuous silk. These fabrics filter light beautifully and last a long time when cared for properly. If the children in your home are grown and the pets well behaved, consider these fabrics for windows.

#2 Warm neutrals
I know many of you will be thrilled to hear that it’s now okay to use warm neutrals in your decorating. It’s once again en vogue to choose beige, bronze, terra cotta or caramel for your home. I find cool tones and warm tones equally beautiful, but there are some homeowners who just feel more comfortable in warm-toned surroundings. These colors are gorgeous on windows because they complement the warmth found in natural light.

#3 Velvet
It doesn’t get more luxurious than classic velvet draperies. For clients who don’t have the budget for floor-to-ceiling velvet drapes but love this timeless look, I recommend velvet accents on linen or cotton drapes. Or, try velvet Roman shades to get that lux look.

#4 Texture
I typically advise clients to avoid touching their drapes and shades too much so they stay pristine. Sometimes, though, tactile things just beg to be felt. Translate this trend into window treatment fabrics with embroidery or beading, and touch them to your hearts content.

window treatment trends for 2020 woven wood matchstick blinds made in the shade blinds north dfw denton texas

#5 Rattan and wicker
Elements like rattan and wicker really soften a home’s décor, and it’s no less true for window treatments. I use woven wood blinds, also called matchstick blinds, to tone down the formality of a traditional room and inject a bit of earthiness when the surroundings are a bit too cold, for example mid-century modern or industrial spaces.
