New, Clever & Unexpected Window Treatment Trends for 2019

Well, it’s that time of year again — when we look back on 2018 window treatment trends and make our predictions for 2019! And wow, it’s been such a BIG year for us.

Thank you so, so much for entrusting your homes to our care. It truly means the world to us. Not only were we honored to be chosen as Best of Denton County for the Home Services category, but we served our record-number of families in the DFW area!

Since we’ve been in and out of homes all over Flower Mound, Argyle, Denton, and more this year, I thought this would be the perfect time to share the trends we’ve seen on the rise!

Here’s a look at the top 5…

  1. Warm neutrals are getting a big welcome

Across the whole design industry, we’ve seen a big shift away from pale greys and toward warmer neutrals like soft beige and tan. It’s no surprise then that this trend has found its way into window treatments!

Personally, we have been loving the look of warm neutrals in our clients’ homes. The tiniest touch of brown can warm up a space, add coziness, and make it feel more like home.

We even added a new line of light colored weaves to our woven wood shades collection to give you more options!

I just love how the subtle neutral window shades complement warm leather and woods in this simple but cozy family room.

  1. Alexa lets you boss around your window treatments

I know, who would have thought we’d get to the year when you could verbally tell your window treatments what to do?? Turns out, 2018 was that year!

You can now pair your motorized treatments with Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show devices. It’s pretty incredible technology and we expect it to grow exponentially in 2019!

If you’re interested in bossing around your window treatments this year, we’d be delighted to show you how.

Just like magic!

  1. Popular roller shades go blackout

If you’ve been following Made in the Shade DFW for any length of time, you’ll know we LOVE roller shades — because our clients love roller shades!

They look clean and classy. They store neatly so you can enjoy the view. They’re kid-safe. They’re easy to clean. And they’re really affordable. So how could they get any better?

You can now get roller shades in blackout options!

We just started offering these styles at the end of this year, and we’ve seen such a great response from families that we know this trend will grow in 2019. After all, who doesn’t want a good night’s sleep?

  1. Motorization that is even more energy efficient and eco-friendly

Motorized window treatments aren’t new to the industry, but there’s no denying that the technology has advanced this year.

The latest models feature rechargeable batteries (so you’re not having to buy several dozen throughout the year) and solar batteries!

Convenient for you. Good for the planet. Safe for your children and grandchildren. Yep, this window treatment technology will definitely grow in popularity in 2019.

  1. Window treatments customized to your home

Yes, I know this is our bread-and-butter service, but hear me out here. Between the time I started this company years ago and now, I have personally seen a HUGE difference in how people approach their window treatments.

Before, most people felt that customized window treatments were a luxury. Before I even started this company, I was guilty of settling for a low-quality options that didn’t match my interior — and I really regretted it. (So much so that I started this company!)

But now, even though custom treatments still look like luxury, we don’t have to sell a kidney to get something beautiful. You don’t have to stand in front of the selections at Bed Bath & Beyond helplessly wondering whether those drapes will actually match the furniture in your family room.

I’m happy to say that custom window treatments are finally becoming accessible to all — and it’s only getting better and better. Hallelujah!

Know someone who would love the gift of custom window treatments? Give us a call and we’ll surprise them with an in-home consultation!

Wishing you and yours a very merry holiday season,
Lana
