Dual Roller Shades allow for both light and privacy. Do you prefer to have your shades and shutters open or closed?

In the summer months we often prefer leaving the shades and shutters open letting the sun and the light in.  How can we let in the light and still have privacy?  Dual Roller Shades are one solution to allow you to have both.

There are window coverings on the market that filter light and offer room darkening and other coverings that are light and sheer with minimal light filtering.

Sheer shades are beautiful but they do not offer privacy at night.  The lighting from the interior of the home will illuminate the room and allow visibility inside.  During daylight hours, the sheer shades are great because they will filter light, block some of the UV rays, and reduce heat.  If it’s privacy you need, look for semi-opaque shades.  Semi-opaque fabric will filter light as well as keep anyone from seeing inside at night.

Fabrics marketed as blackout we actually feel are better described as light-dimming because of the light-bleed.  Light can seep in through soft fabric vanes on some shades.  If total darkness is necessary, there are shades and solutions that will address that.

With any window covering, there can be both pros and cons.  For those who like to “let in the light” as well as have privacy, we have several multifunctional products that cover both sheer and opaque needs.  These would be dual roller shades.  Our dual roller shades are made with 2 fabrics rolled on separate tubes which operate independently.  You can raise and lower each at different times of day – sheer in the morning and afternoon, room darkening at night.

Here is another great way to “let in the light” when you like and have privacy when you need.

Another option is a day/night honeycomb shade which offers 2 fabrics as well.  One fabric can be sheer or light-filtering, the other, room darkening.
